New Sketch Waiting to Be Painted!

I wanted to share a new sketch I did yesterday. No words have come to mind yet but hopefully they will when I paint her. I am planning to use her in a mixed media piece as I did for Tam's class using the new techniques I learned. In case you missed it you can read that post HERE.

Sketching always quiets my mind. It is fun to see how the face will turn out. It seems a secret to me while I am creating. I always look forward to the big reveal!

Tomorrow I am off to Philly to speak at a women's cancer symposium. Hope you all have a great weekend!

  3. She is very pretty and I agree that she has a dreamy look. I really like these girls with big eyes. I have tried and mine just don't come out looking right. I will not give up though.

  4. Cathy she's lovely. I agree very dreamy, almost like she's wishing on a star, or perhaps she's dreaming wistfully about her true love!

Loved your last canvas. I had a go but I found the canvas harder to work than the watercolour paper, but maybe I need crayons as opposed to pencils.

Have a safe trip. See you back here soon

  6. Ah..Cathy, your sketch is lovely! I'm anxious to come back to see her after you've added color. Isn't it amazing how a character will just come alive once you've brushed colored on? Good luck at your speaking engagement. Hugs, Terri

  7. She looks thoughtful, as though she's saying: "Hmmmmmm....Let me think about that for a while and I'll let you know." Maybe she's trying to think up some words too! ^_^ How wonderful to have the privilege to speak at the cancer symposium. Here's wishing you "No Nerves!" And have a good weekend too!

  11. Hi Cathy,

Wow I've had some catching up to do (haven't been visiting my blog friends this week as we have had computer problems), Great sketch you really do have your own unique style and it's so great to see it develop :0).

I just had a look through your past posts that I missed and your photos of the zoo and the butterflies are beautiful, looks like a lovely place. I loved your post about your grandmother, so touching and your drawing was a great tribute to her, you certainly captured that twinkle in her eye that I could see in the photograph,
    Lovely work :0) xox
