"Believe" . . . New Painting!

Believe
8x10 mixed media on canvas

I had fun painting this one! And with the more I learn the more fun I have! I really love her!

I painted her with acrylics, colored pencil, black Pitt artist pen, distressed ink, and added butterfly stickers. I am loving the effect the distressed ink gives to the background. I enjoyed watching her come to life! I have to say she looks better in person.

I am still trying to figure out where to add the word "believe" or maybe I should leave it out. What do you guys think?

  2. Hi Cathy~

Thank you so much for popping over to my blog the other day and leaving such an amazingly sweet comment!

I've read through both of your blogs and find your inspiration motivating and true. I'm so glad you found me and now I've found you... more creative inspiration to view!

I really like this painting, esp. her eyes you really did a great job with her eyes and I find that to be one of my challenges.

I look forward to watching your growth and journey!

  3. Love her! Isn't painting amazing? Isn't allowing a woman to appear on a canvas vastly satisfying! They almost always look better in person.

IMO - I would try writing the word believe in pencil first - fairly large on the left side where the space is, written this way ______ from the edge toward her body, in between where her hair ends and her shoulder begins. But that's just me.

Try it in different places: Use pencil real lightly and then step a few feet back to see what you think. Stepping back helps because that's how the piece will be viewed.

    Have fun!

  4. She is wonderful, Cathy. I can tell it was sheer joy creating her. I think the "believe" might look nice right there by her hair on the left side. She is gorgeous with or without the text. Hugs, Diane

Add Believe to her! Maybe by her shoulder? or on her stomach?
    Just darling!
