New Grungy Love . . .

Graphite gray . . . I am loving this color just as much as I thought I would.  It is the perfect shade and it has a nice shimmer to it.  Great for grunge.

For this piece I decided to go back to some photo art.  I scratched up my "love" photo and incorporated it into this piece.  There is molding paste, scribbling, and scrubbed paint.  This time I used white paint to adhere the photo and it worked well better than I thought.  Read about the story behind this image HERE.

Grungy love. . . its my favorite!

Transforming A Painting Into Photo Art . . .

I created this yesterday on my iPhone.  I discovered a new app called "art studio"  and you can do really cool stuff with photos.  And since I have many images of my paintings including some in progress shots I thought it would be fun to try and see what I could create.

The first layer is my painting and then I used my fingers to write the words and make some cool smudges on the painting with some white.  It felt like painting in a way.

The painting below is the image I altered to create the above piece.
Pretty cool huh?  ;)

In these moments when I don't find myself painting in a traditional way  it feels good to know there are other ways to "paint" that can be as simple as a photo on your iPhone.

I am sharing today for Paint Party Friday.  Hope you will stop by and check out all the great art being shared!

New Black and White Altered Photo Art :)

"Love Today"
mixed media on 8x8 canvas board

Somehow this morning I managed to get in some art time for the first time in a few weeks since we got the new puppy. I took the opportunity while he was sleeping to sneak back to my art space and work on this piece. Actually I started out playing around with an image in photoshop which was fun and then was inspired to try it on a black canvas. I think these are my favorite pieces to do. They are quick, creative, and allow me to combine my photography and painting. Most of all they feed my need for instant gratification. lol

Here is the original image that I digitally altered to the image you see in the above piece.

This is a heart shape I found embedded in the blacktop along the walktrail I frequent. I thought it looked so cool. This morning I added some texture to the image and played around with some digital collage. I really like the end result. I decided to add a pink tone to the altered version because I thought it would be nice with the black.

After I glued the image to the board I used some of the photo scrap to punch out the butterflies and then stamped onto another scrap piece for the words up in the top right. I added the finishing touches by scraping paint (a mix of burnt sienna and titan buff) around to incorporate the collage. I added some of that same color paint to my script stamp just cause I love to use that stamp any chance I get!

I am sharing this over at Paint Party Friday which I have missed so much the past few weeks! Be sure to hop over to the party and check out all the cool artwork being shared!

Wow! Another Etsy Treasury . . . For My Pug!

5x7 fine art photo card

I listed this photo card of my little boy Bosco in my etsy shop yesterday. This is actually the photo I sketched from which I recently shared with you. (see that post here). It is one of my favs. I think the black and white captures the essence of his expressive face!

This card has been included in an etsy treasury titled "Pug Love" by Hyacynthe. (check out the treasury here!) This treasury is too cute! It is filled with all kinds of cute pug themed items! Who doesn't love pugs?! I am very excited to have my card included! A big thank you to Hyacynthe!

And I also would like to thank Debbie over at The Wug's Backyard Blogspot for featuring my etsy shop in her blog post today! She did a lovely job and I am honored to be featured! Thanks Debbie! (Check out her post here!)

I am having a lovely weekend and I hope you are too!
