I Miss My Pretty Faces . . . Sunday Sketches

I have been doing lots of sketching lately. I wish I could paint faces as easily as I sketch them. This girl I really love. And I don't say that often about my art! lol She was inspired by my cousin who recently passed away. I had her face in my mind as I was working. And although it does not look exactly like her there are similar facial features that I went by in creating this pretty face. I love sketching eyes especially big ones with long lashes. And this nose is much improved since the first ones I did months ago. The nose can be really tough but I think I am finally getting the shading.

I soooo want to paint her but I have to admit I don't much enjoy painting the faces probably because I have no patience! I would like to paint abstract messy ones someday.

I hope you all have a lovely Sunday! And please stop by and see all the great work being shared today over at Sunday Sketches!

  1. she is beautiful - I agree! Why not copy her and color her with watercolor pencils, then add water bits at a time...you may like it...I am impatient also.
    cheers, dana

  8. Cathy, she is very pretty. When I first saw it I thought it looked a bit like you so you have done a great job in capturing the family resemblance.
PS: I also have trouble with faces when I paint and so much better sketching.
