Embrace Me With Your Love . . .

"Embrace Me With Your Love"
mixed media on 6x8 inch canvas board

Thanks for all your great comments on yesterday's post! I think it is my love of photography that pulls me right back to these altered photo pieces. So remember when I said I had another photo waiting in the wings? Well I got it on canvas quicker than I thought! This is an altered photo of my "Embrace" painting. You can see the original HERE.

I played around with the composition for a bit with this one. I knew I wanted to cut it in 3 pieces but wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them! After moving them around alot I finally found something I liked. At first the blank space to the right scared me but then I thought I could fill it with some writing which I don't typically do. I used a palette knife again to scatter some white gesso around. I am loving that white gel pen. I find it much easier to write with than a paint pen.

I really like this piece. I am feeling less pressure to step away from the black and white palette.

"Embrace" . . . Acrylic Glazes on Birch Wood

"Embrace"
acrylic glazes on 5x5" birch wood
prints available in my etsy shop
I am hoping that you can tell where I got the title from for this one! Feeling inspired by my last piece with its image that came out and spoke to me I longed to try another! So on another piece of birch I used the same colors but added titanium white this time and began layering. I was trying to not "look" for something and just be random about it. I stepped away for awhile and then went back to it. I felt that it just wasn't done. Then when I added the last layers of payne's gray over on the right I noticed that an image appeared. I saw a couple standing in an embrace.

Once I saw that I immediately connected to this piece. I am hoping you see what I see!
