Turning a WIP Collage Into Cool Photo Art

I started collaging an old canvas board with torn up pieces of my NYC photography.  Typically I do not enjoy collage.  It frustrates me.  But for some reason I really got lost in ripping and gluing these pieces down with no thought to placement at all.  I try to remember to take photos during the progress of my pieces and did so with this.  What I did not expect however was to find a really cool image.  I shot this at an angle just playing around with my iPhone and loved what I saw!

I then took it a step further and put the image in the 'be funky' app which has some cool borders.  I also grunted it up a bit so it would have a more distressed antique look.

Yesterday I printed it out and think I will hang it up!  You never know where an image can take you.  Even something as simple as a photo of your WIP.  Try it sometime!!  I would love to see what you create!!

New Landscape . . . WIP

Despite the fact that I had a super hard time getting a good pic of this painting in progress I am excited to share it with you! This is the best shot of the twentysomething images I took. I am not sure what I was thinking starting this on a 16x20 canvas! All of that blank space to fill can be quite daunting!

I knew I wanted to use a limited palette of complimentary colors. I just love yellow and purple together. I am using dioxidine purple and cad yellow medium with some titanium white. The composition is from a personal photo. There are trees lining the path that you can't see from this image which are subject to change at any moment! lol

This has been sitting on my easel for a couple of weeks now. I am hoping to get back to it soon! That is if I can tear myself away from photoshop long enough! :)

WIP . . . The Altered Eye

The image above is an altered photo of an eye I sketched back in December which I shared in this post. I printed it out on matte photo paper and scratched it up with sandpaper. I ripped the right edge off to see if I liked the torn paper effect. I used my caran d'ache water crayon in black to altered and grunge up the eye. White paint pen was used to highlight. Then I used a black sharpie for the lashes. I like the drip effect I was able to get with the crayon.

So this is where I am at for now. I am still figuring out the composition for the canvas which of course will be black. Not much studio time today as I needed to catch up on some errands. Hopefully will get back to it tomorrow. Then again, I may leave this be for something else that may pop into my head. Sometimes I feel scattered like that!
