Believe In Forever . . .

I have been feeling less than inspired these days, not creating much. Today as I was flipping through my sketchbook I found a page that I used to play around with stencils and black fabric spray. And just like that I was inspired.

I added some pink watercolor over the top, stamped the words that came to mind and then added details with a black sharpie pen, finishing the edges with a black gelato. I never expected something so simple would inspire me so much . . .

This week I got back to one of my favorite sketches. I finally got this pretty girl on a canvas. I love hearts and as you can see love pink! I used my pink caran d'ache neocolor II crayons with white acrylics and my graphite pencil for the details on this piece. Typically I don't use just one color for my palette but I do like how this came out.

I did a layer of collage paper and stamping first and then collaged the girl image onto the board. I had fun sketching out the tree again and coloring it in. I had debated in my mind for a bit when it came to the hearts. Originally I wanted to color them but with all the pink I was afraid they would get lost and I needed them to stand out so I went with the graphite.

Texture Tuesday . . . Pink

Its that time again and this week I am not missing it! The challenge was to use anything pink. Well, pink is my fav color so that was not tough for me. I chose this pic I took of my roses that Lou gave me for our anniversary in May. Kim sent out a new texture "aurora" which I love so I knew I would use that for this image. I just love the script in this new texture!

I added the texture in soft light x2 and then multiply. I also took down the saturation to give it a more faded look.

Angel Sketch Painting. . . Finally!

I completed this sweet angel piece yesterday. I didn't have much time this week for painting so I was happy to get in my studio and do some creating! You my recognize this sketch from a previous post. She was the third angel sketch along with my angel bride and ballerina. This was the last one I had to incorporate into a painting.

I knew I wanted to use pink and grey in the background. Then somehow purple got tossed into the mix. Funny that I didn't like how it came out at first. I was frustrated. But after stepping away for a bit I must have come back to her with fresh eyes and she looked better to me. Have any of you felt that way?

I posted her on facebook last evening and I am happy to say she sold before making it to etsy! The man who I am sending her to also has my angel ballerina painting. This will be the third piece he will have of mine. He has two little girls who really like my work. And that makes my heart happy!

Angel Ballerina Is Painted And She Sold!!

Good morning my dear friends! I completed this piece over the weekend. I went with a similar color palette as the angel bride. Its funny how I get stuck in a color that I really like. I have another angel to put on canvas and I hope I can break away from the pink!

I have to admit I did obsess over her a bit especially on the top layer details. At one point I had to ask my hubby to take it away from me before I ruined it! lol Then I posted her on facebook as I do with most of my art to share her with friends and I sold her before I even got a chance to list her on etsy! She is on her way south to a little girls room. It really makes my heart happy to think that my art will be in a new home and hopefully inspire its new owner. She will be added as a print to my etsy shop later today!

I have a couple of works in progress one of which is an altered photo piece. This time I am being daring and using a 11x14 wrapped canvas covered in black gesso waiting for one of my altered photos. The photo is all scratched up, inked and ready. We will see how it goes! The other is a background for my third angel although I still need to figure out what color the background will be.

Dare I go with pink again??

Angel Bride and A Weekend Getaway

I wanted to share my latest painting with you before I head out for the weekend. I used my angel sketch and adhered her to the layers of collage, glaze, and stamping that embellish this canvas board. I used crayon for the flowers and like that it is the only color on her. I initially wasn't crazy about the pink I chose but pink to me symbolizes love so I thought it was appropriate! She will be making her way to my etsy shop soon!

This morning hubby and I are heading to Newport, RI for the weekend! It was a gift from him for Valentine's Day. Although I have been there numerous times I never tire of it! We will be staying at a beach cottage right and I don't even care how cold it will be! Just to be near the ocean calms me and makes me happy!

I won't be blogging much but you know that I will have my camera with me so there will be photos to share upon my return!! Have a lovely weekend!! xo

Thanks for all the great comments on my last post. I have been in the grungy black and white thing for a few weeks now and when I was in my studio this morning I saw this painting. I created her over the summer and she is definitely one of my favorites. I went with the pink and brown palette and embellished her with butterfly stickers. I also used bubble wrap for some texture as this was my pre molding paste days. She was so fun to paint!

I felt it was time to add her to my etsy shop. I listed her today. Although she clashes with my new black and white pieces she has renewed my love of pastels! Maybe I am ready for a color change . . .
