Bouquet of Love . . .

'bouquet of love . . . from me to you.'
watercolor, pitt pens on 5x8 watercolor paper

I finally found some time to try the tube watercolor set Lou bought me for christmas. I had sketched this image out quickly in my journal knowing I wanted to paint it. I used payne's gray (so excited as that is my fav color! lol) burnt sienna, and burnt umber along with some black pitt pens.

Funny how I am liking adding my own script to these pieces. And I enjoy scribbling with the pens.

There is certainly much to master in working with watercolor. It is hard to get used to the techniques. I don't like that I cannot cover up mistakes like with acrylic but I am so loving the washed effect. That is what keeps me coming back.

I am sharing this today over at Paint Party Friday which I have missed with all the holiday craziness and of course my recent obsession with digital art!
Hop on over HERE and join us!

It is another lovely unseasonably warm day today here in NY and the weekend as well. And I am not complaining at all! Just going to enjoy it!
Wishing you all a lovely day!

Love Is Falling - Paint Party Friday!!

"love is falling all around us"
mixed media on 8x10 canvas board

Happy Paint Party Friday! I was looking through all of my art photos the other day and I found this painting I did last year. I wanted to share it today because it reminds me of how I painted before I became worried about "How" to paint.

She started out as a sketch, and the scene came to life when I put her on canvas. I really had fun creating this. I used burnt sienna and yellow for the background and love the heart tree. As you know I am a sucker for hearts! lol

What I have been struggling with lately is trying to achieve perfection in my art. And the pressure I put on myself actually keeps me away from creating. Sometimes I just want to create cute pretty things like her. And so what if it isn't fine art, it makes me happy and hopefully will inspire others.

I just started taking "She Art" with Christy Tomlinson. I really think it will inspire me to get back to the simple, fun, girls I used to create. I am enjoying the class so far!

Have you felt this way about your art? How do you deal with it?

Believe . . . She Has Joined My Etsy Shop!

"Believe"
mixed media on 8x10 canvas board

Thanks for all the great comments on my last post. I have been in the grungy black and white thing for a few weeks now and when I was in my studio this morning I saw this painting. I created her over the summer and she is definitely one of my favorites. I went with the pink and brown palette and embellished her with butterfly stickers. I also used bubble wrap for some texture as this was my pre molding paste days. She was so fun to paint!

I felt it was time to add her to my etsy shop. I listed her today. Although she clashes with my new black and white pieces she has renewed my love of pastels! Maybe I am ready for a color change . . .
