It helps me focus and that is what I have been lacking lately. What hasn't been lacking though is anxiety. And I find that my anxiety is worse when I don't create.
Just a quick sketch tonite that I had fun with. Oh how I wish I had her figure! And I am loving the hair! I have always liked long flowing dresses and that was the inspiration for this sketch.
sweet cathy. i'm sorry about the anxiety. i know where you are at. for some reason i haven't had it lately. i've had other problems...if it's not one thing, it's another. but, we are blessed with love and art. glad you were able to work through some anxiety. oh how i wish i could have you over for a mocha!

Boy, can I relate to anxiety! I was telling Daniel just the other day that the only thing that really, really helps is when I make art. That must access a part of my brain where anxiety doesn't live... You are doing so well to pick up your sketchbook!! Sending much love, Silke
ReplyDeleteP.S. Can I come as well to have a mocha with you and Kelly?!?
i love it too! she's so cute with her hair and all and so fashion forward! i too am in the anxiety club! i draw and listen to something 'soothing' at the same time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sketch! She looks like a fashion model. I am the same as you: when I sketch, my anxiety seems to disappear (yay)
ReplyDeletemaybe that's why I love it so MUCH! Happy weekend to you, my friend!
I like long flowing dresses too! And the sketch is beautiful! :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely sketch ... and *hugs* for the anxiety xx
ReplyDeleteI know it's the time of the year--I feel this same way--I'm seem to be anxious and fretful all the time--and I don't even know why. But you are so right about the art part--it so helps!!
ReplyDeleteCathy, love your sketch the hair is great, wish mine would do that. Don't know why art helps but it does. When I am anxious I don't want to do anything, but if I sit down and force myself to do art it just seems to wash everything else out of my mind and I get lost in the art.
ReplyDeleteI also thought she looked like a fashion model!! Nice sketch!! Happy you found your sketchbook!!!
ReplyDeleteUgh ...I know that anxiety! Art really does help with that.
ReplyDeleteLove your sketch!
How strange because for the past few days I too have been in anxiety mode. I don't talk about it but I seem to become upset at anything and I can feel my chest and breathing start acting up when I get like this. I'm trying to calm myself down and bring my BP down before it's time to see the doctor. It's a beautiful sketch and I wish I had her figure too:))I hope the anxiety passes quickly Cathy and I do know what you mean when you say you pick up the brush or pencil and it helps. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy, I'm sorry about the anxiety, know exactly what you mean. I am struggling right now too, still having probs with the College of Nursing here and it's so worrying :( But like you whenever I paint or sketch it all goes away, if only for a little while! Sending you huge ((hugs)).
ReplyDeleteI think anything in the arts that you are really into is calming, must be something to do with a part of the brain we use or the brainwaves or something. I remember a lovely man I used to work with. He had Autism and he was prone to get stuck on things, chairs, doors all sorts of things his whole body was constantly on high alert. Yet when he played piano you could see all the tremors and 'high anxiety' literally melt. The first time I witnessed this (I didn't even know he could play piano) he played "Danny Boy" and I welled up...it was so beautiful to see him so calm and relaxed. a very special moment and a very special young man.
Have a better week sweetie
Ro xxxx

the anxiety at bay!!!!! it is a blessing when we know
what it is that will diminish that!!!
